Sky Riding LI therapeutic riding program lessons are custom designed to the riders individual needs. We work closely with parents and riders to determine goals and stay on track.

Sky Riding lessons may include  opportunities to groom, tack, untack and lead your horse to and from the ring. Our trained and knowledgeable volunteers / ring assistants meet with our riders each week to teach horsemanship, provide assistance and offer friendship.

Our philosophy is to provide education and encourage independence whenever possible. It is expected, if appropriate, that riders will learn to care for their horse each week. We provide positive role models and always look for opportunities for growth both in and out of the riding ring.

The Benefits of Therapeutic Riding and becoming a Sky Rider!

The rhythmic movement of the horse benefits riders with physical disabilities, often providing improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. For people with mental, emotional or physical disabilities, the unique relationship formed with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience, self-esteem, concentration and problem-solving abilities.

Therapeutic riding promotes socialization. Often the social interaction between instructor, volunteer, parent, and rider becomes as important as the riding lesson. Friendships are made, acceptable behaviors are reinforced. A bond develops between riders and their horses as riders discover that the horses are gentle, friendly, accepting, and do not see disabilities.

Classical Riding Lessons

Beginner and intermediate riders of all ages are encouraged and welcome to sign up for riding lessons. I emphasize the fundamentals of Hunter Seat Equitation, dressage and horsemanship. I teach with humor and fun while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for beginners through intermediate riders and those with special needs. Lessons are tailored and developed to meet your specific needs and requirements and are re-evaluated along the journey.   I welcome moms, teens and kids to gain a solid foundation in riding skills.
